This antique necklace is very similar to one featured in the book "Collecting Victorian Jewelry" by C. J. Bell. The one pictured in the book, circa 1870's, is solid gold and valued at $4800. This one is gold plated with a solid gold chain. The chain on this set is one of the coolest things about it. I have searched on what this chain is called and still can't find another one like it. It's made of little pierced disks linked together. It measures 17 inches. It has a gold plated lobster claw clasp that is not original to the chain. The pendant is made from a hard stone that is hand carved. The carving on this piece is exquisite. There are also 4 small seed pearls that are handset into the piece. It measures 1.5 x 1 inches.
