This is an antique Whiting and Davis soldered mesh purse. I have seen this style of purse referred to as a Polychrome. It's an amazing purse, but not in perfect condition. The enameled design has faded with time and wear. There are also 3 spots were the mesh has to be reattached to the frame. I suspect that at one time the purse had a silk lining, but now it is unlined. The brass handle and frame are in decent shape for their age. The purse measures 6 x 4 inches not including the handle. The handle is 11 inches long. This purse would be worth allot more with a few simple repairs. | ||
