Elgin American is known for producing beautiful well made compacts...and this is a great example. This piece most likely dates from the early 50's as I have seen ads from that period that show almost identical designs. This vintage compact is a gold tone color with beautiful art nouveau design and stripes etched on the front. The back is a solid brushed finish. The mirror inside is in fantastic shape with no dark spots. It does have the original puff included, but it has been used. The hinge and catch of the makeup compartment are in perfect working order. This great compact is perfect for your loose mineral based powder makeup, so much more attractive than the ones that are sold with the products. It measure 3.5 x 3 inches. There is some normal wear from use to the front that can be seen in the picture, but it is minor. | ||
